There’s a concept that has been trickling through mainstream. I say ‘concept’ because most people are just beginning to grasp the idea; ‘trickling’ because it has been a long time coming.

A book on the subject was published in 1999. I bought it about that time but it sat on my shelf for a couple of years before I was ready to hear it. I tried. Believe me. I would pick it up, start it, felt like I was reading a foreign language, and put it down. The words never penetrated. They just bounced off me like a bullet hitting superman.

But finally, one day…I was ready. I opened it in the middle, selected a sentence and never looked back. To date, I’ve read it no less than, oh….say….five, six, seven times….maybe more. Each time it grounds me. I love that.

The name of the book is -yep, you guessed it- The Power of Now. The author? Eckhart Tolle.

(Now you may have heard of him surrounding the hoopla of Oprah. They created the first ever web class. Ten weeks of solid learning about this stuff. The book they covered? A New Earth. ‘Nother subject.’Nother day.)

For now, I’m talking about The Power of Now…and here’s the point.

There is no stronger moment in life.

Period.

Nothing stronger.

Than. Now.

Seems simple. (most really good things are) but it is so powerful that when you really learn to live from this place, it will change your life.

Here’s a hint (or two):

When you are living in the past you feel….guilt, resentment, sadness. Things like anger, self-pity, and bitterness show up to ruin (yes, ruin) your life.

When you are living in the future you feel…. anxious. This is where tension shows up…stress…worry….dissatisfaction…frustration…basically all forms of fear. (And we know what that does.)

The good news?

None of these exist in the present moment.

The present moment brings you a sense of joy… ease … lightness. Guilt and anxiety can’t exist here. It’s impossible.  (Try to find it, I promise…you won’t). The present moment is peace personified.

And THIS is the power place.

This is the place from which you create the life of your dreams.

If you want more,  the book is worth the read…but don’t be too hard on yourself if it sits on your shelf. You will read it the exact moment you are ready.

And this is the way life works best.

Unthink this: If you strip away all thoughts of tomorrow…all memories of yesterday and really ground yourself right here…right now….what do you feel?
